Huron National Forest is located in the northeastern part of Michigan having 450,336 acres, with 240 miles of trails for non-motor users. 5 Minutes from Crown Thistle. Lumberman's Monument, a fourteen-foot bronze statue, depicts three lumbermen of the 1800's. 30 minutes from Crown Thistle. Iargo Springs. There are 294 steps down to the Spring which has been used continuously as a drinking source since pre settlement times. It was considered a sacred place by Chippewa Indians who believed the springs held curative powers. There is an observation deck as well as a boardwalk at the bottom of the stairs. 30 minutes from Crown Thistle. AuSable River Queen. The only paddlewheel riverboat of its kind offering a variety of senic tours. This unique paddlewheel boat runs into the Fall so that you may take in the splendor of the Autumn colors.
